The Pocahontas County Democrats met Saturday, March 12 to choose 4th District convention delegates. That convention will be April 30 in Ames, IA. It will have 287 seats. Three of them will belong to Pocahontas County
Brother and sister Lee and Emma Sailor of Rolfe were both selected. Emma is a Sanders delegate while Joe is pledged to Hillary Clinton. Terri Joelson of Laurens was also chosen by the Clinton backers. They were in the majority at the county convention.
When the Iowa state convention rolls around in June, Lee Sailor will be replaced by Destiny Kirkpatrick of Fonda. Joelson will still hold our second Clinton seat at the 1400 member state convention. Emma Sailor will also stand aside for Sanders alternate Mike DeWolf of Rolfe.
Iowa's delegates to the national convention in Philadelphia will be selected at the April and June meetings.
