Alarmed by the Republican agenda? They now have majority control of both houses in Iowa and in Congress; of both the governorship and the White House. Already they are attacking public schools, cutting the safety net, blocking voters, blocking refugees, and planning tax cuts for themselves.
Many petitions will be offered to resist the Republicans. But one petition really counts---the one you need to get your name on the ballot so you can run for office yourself.
We need a Democratic Party candidate to run for the Iowa House in the Tenth District. It is comprised of Pocahontas, Calhoun, and Humboldt Counties as well as the southwest portion of Webster County.
We need a Democratic Party candidate for Iowa Senate as well. The Senate District contains the city of Fort Dodge in addition to the counties of the Tenth District.
We need a candidate for County Supervisor in the Palmer district of Pocahontas County.
All those elections are in 2018 so it's not too early to start your planning.
In 2017 there will be mayors races, city council races, and school board races.
