Pocahontas Democrats have nominated Pat Sheda for county sheriff. The county convention, originally held in March, was re-convened August 4 to meet ballot access requirements since no candidate sought the Democratic nomination in the June primary.
Sheda (above left) told the convention he would re-institute programs in the county for bicycle safety and begin programs on bullying. He promised to ride the school buses to get to know the kids in the county. Sheda was a deputy sheriff for sixteen years. He retired in 2010 and lives in Rolfe.
Sheda joins other county Democratic candidates (left to right) Margene Bunda for county auditor, Ed Dewey for county supervisor from Pocahontas, and Jeff Ives for county supervisor from the Havelock to Rolfe area.
